Case and Mom day
Today Case went with me on some SAE visits. We chased cows horseback, chased geese and drove with a student in a semi truck that he rebuilt. Lots of fun today!

2 year old logic
the logic of a 2 year old cracks me up.
today on the way home, we had a conversation.
M: I have to go potty when we get home! Do you need to go potty?
C: (shaking his head) no, I have my hat on!
M: So when you have your hat on, you don't have to go potty?
C: yea, my hat covers me up!
so if you ever need to go potty, just put on a hat!

the quilting bug..
my mom quilts. all of my aunts quilt. both grandmas quilt.
I swore up and down I never would, that it was not for me.
However, I have been bitten by the quilting bug and I am so excited. I am ordering fabric, thread, kits, and more!
So far I have made 2 baby quilts, a bib, a number of burp rags in different shapes and sizes, a baby crinkle toy and 1 baby blanket.
I soon will be expanding my project list to:
- jewelry envelopes (christmas presents)
- wine or sparkling cider cozy (more christmas presents)
- quilt as you go quilt
- log cabin quilt
- table runner
so I will be busy busy!

my wonderful
This week has felt like we were hit with a train. A really big one. twice.
Eric is been really strong through the whole thing, he loves his grandpa dearly and would be ripped apart if anything happened to him, but he was strong the whole time we were visiting Grandpa Udell.
He helped hold me together on Tuesday when our world was ripped apart and he has been such a wonderful support.
He is my faithful cowboy, Cases' "police car man" and our favorite man.
I love him.

Grace
this afternoon while I was resting, I had a dream. My dream was about Grace. That is what we named our little girl who now rests in Jesus' arms in heaven.
I had a dream that we (Eric, Case and myself) went on a tour of heaven and we got to see Grace. She was precious, even though she was so tiny, she was perfect. All of her fingers and toes were formed perfectly, she had little bits of brown hair and her eyes were closed, but she was completely formed. Jesus was holding her in his arms and Case said, "thats my sister" and Jesus said, "you're right." Then Case said, "I want to hold her" and Jesus said, "ok". So after Case held her and we got to see how perfect she was and how loved she was by her heavenly father, we knew that she was in the safest place she could be.
I am thankful that we have such a wonderful faith in Jesus and that he takes care of us from conception. I am thankful that baby Grace is in heaven and that she will always be our little girl.

October
We have been having lots of fun so far this October. I have documented our adventures.
Eric got a flat tire on his mower in the field, so Case helped him fix it.
Potty training is in full swing at our house, whatever I can do to get Case to sit on the potty, I will do
Case loves to help his dad on the farm, even if it means to change sprinklers
There is always time to sit in a bucket
And play ball in the living room....
winding down for the night....
Petting Seeker
Reading stories to Dad....

new sayings around here...
Case has become quite the talker, and is getting better with his sentences all the time. Here s afew of his sentences that I feel need to be shared:
"Mom! lets get a dolphin from the river and take it home!"
"Mom! The dolphins in the river are REALLLLLLYYYY BIIIIEEEEGGGGG!"
"Lets catch a dolphin and put it in the field with the cows and horses mom!"
(I think we're letting him watch to many Diego and Dora shows....)
He also plays baseball everyday, often with unusual items:
- shop vac implement as his bat with a heart stress ball as his ball (in the house, none the less)
- shims and rocks
who needs toys? Case just uses stuff he finds around the house!

new embarkings... (is that even a word??)
So I have gotten quilting fever. I made a quilt for my sister-in-law this summer for the new baby that is about to arrive, and I am almost done with my second baby quilt for the silent auction for FFA.
Today I decided that I am going to make a hamper sack, duvet and curtains for Cases' new room as my mom got him the cutest cowboy chuckwagon bedroom set for his 2nd birthday and we are going to use it for his new room. Then I decided I was going to make a quilt for mine and Erics bed and my mom gave me the cutest "recipe" for a lawn chair quilt that looks really hard but is supposed to be soooooooo easy.
Go to the Moda Bake Shop and learn how to make your own lawn chair quilt!
Oh and one more thing.. have a happy labor day weekend!

close call
I planted armenian cucumbers this year and we have been getting some pretty big ones. I made Case stand against the wall so we could have a comparision!
(notice his undies - we're potty training!)

July 2010
This summer has been super busy. So, here is a little photo documentation of the month of July, captions included of course!
Case is surely Erics' son. He LOVES sweets. He helped himself to the slim-pickens from the bowl of chocloate chip oatmeal cookies in addition to other sweet (and sometimes sticky) adventures from the summer... he poured a 1/4 gallon of syrup all over the floor in his room and then went "swimming" as he told me. He informed me it was a "sweet and good swimming pool". Right Case, right. This morning I found him in the kitchen with his hand in the brown sugar container, eating chunks of brown sugar. I might not give him candy, but he sure has a sweet tooth!
Eric and Case like to be alike. Even when it means wearing your gun in your undies.
Case is very creative, amongst other things. He loves to draw, color and paint.
Riding on the "dozer" with Papa - he got to wear "ear muffs"
Eric taught him how to scale my garden fence.... thanks honey, I really love you.
Case loves to help me in my veggie garden as well as my flower beds. He was examining the Vinca
preparing to make the cows know where they belong...
we went to Big Lake for my birthday and went camping with Papa and Gramma Kim
we brought Lucy, my new pride and joy - mini australian shepard - Dukes 1/2 sister with us
Case got to ride on the boat, one time around the lake
Eric caught a fish (2 actually)
Udon caught a fish too (total of 5 over the two days)
Case discovered its fun to sit in trees
Family picture
harvests from my garden! (carrots, green beans, cherry tomatoes, jalapenos and blushing beauty peppers) The butternut squash is just a pretty addition... although I will have LOTS of butternut squash soon!
Case and Lucy are buddies, he tells her on the hour, "Lucy, I like you" and then gives her a big kiss!
Well, thats what we have done this summer, we welcome August with school starting and a new babysitter for Case!

baby quilt making time...
This is the quilt I am making for my new niece. I started the top yesterday and finished it this morning. I have ordered some turqouise dot minky that will be the back of the quilt and there will be a double border of the coral print and the yellow print. it should be fun!
Tribute to the coffee maker...
Goodbye, Makita Coffee Maker
Here is the list of reasons why you have been family for the past 4.5 years:
1. you were the first present I ever bought Eric (Christmas 2005)
2. Eric thought you were really cool since you have a gold plated filter that is dishwasher safe and you can grind whole bean coffee
3. you can even make pre-ground coffee.. another plus for those of us who don't like noisy coffee makers in the morning...
4. You have outlasted other coffee makers and even when we put you into storage, we always went back to you because we knew you would work.
5. Up until recently all of your parts worked. This is why Jim Beam is sitting on top of you, you don't like to close anymore and this is why we are finally retiring you. You will be replaced with a BUNN but don't worry, you were truly loved.
